Kappa Vanpayar Puzhukku





Ingredients
  • Tapioca - 2 cup (cubed )
  • Green chilli -2
  • Curry Leaves
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Water - 11/2 cup
  • Salt - To taste
  • Cooked red beans - 1/2 cup


To Grind (Coarse)
  • Coconut - 1 cup
  • Pearl Onion - 2 nos
  • Jeera (Cumin) - 1 pinch
  • Pepperpowder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder -1/4 tsp
  • Salt - 1 pinch
To dry roast and temper
  • Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
  • Red Chilli  - 2
  • Curry Leaves -few
  • Oil- 2 tbsp

Method
  1. Peel the tapioca and cut to medium sized cubes.
  2. Wash well adnd transfer to a pressure cooker.
  3. Cook the cubed tapioca with salt, green chilli ,chilli and turmeric powder.
  4. Once cooked , open the lid and add  cooked red bean and give a mix.
  5. Grind  ingredients given in "To Grind " section to a coarse paste.
  6. Add grounded coconut mixture  to the cooked tapioca and red bean.
  7. Cook for 5  mins in medium to low  flame.
  8. In a pan add oil. Splutter mustard seeds,red chilli and curry leaves.
  9. Pour this on top of cooked mixture and mix well before serving.
  10. Tastes best with kanji or dosa.
