Cherupayaru Curry




Ingredients
  • Soaked  Green Gram (cherupayar) - 3/4 cup
  • Green Chilli - 3 nos
  • Salt - To Taste
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 pinch
  • Thin Coconut Milk - 2/3 cup
  • Thick Coconut Milk  - 1/2 cup
  • Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
  • Curry Leaves - 1 spring
  • Water - 2 cup

Method
  1. Soak green gram for 4-6 hrs (overnight ).
  2. In a pressure cooker add soaked cherupayar with water, salt,green chilli and turmeric powder for 2 whistles.
  3. When the pressure is released, open the lid and add thin coconut milk and bring to boil. 
  4.  Reduce flame and add thick coconut milk.
  5. Switch off and add 1 tsp coconut oil and curry leaves at the top.
  6. Tastes best with puttu.
