Cherupayaru Curry
Ingredients
- Soaked Green Gram (cherupayar) - 3/4 cup
- Green Chilli - 3 nos
- Salt - To Taste
- Turmeric Powder - 1 pinch
- Thin Coconut Milk - 2/3 cup
- Thick Coconut Milk - 1/2 cup
- Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves - 1 spring
- Water - 2 cup
Method
- Soak green gram for 4-6 hrs (overnight ).
- In a pressure cooker add soaked cherupayar with water, salt,green chilli and turmeric powder for 2 whistles.
- When the pressure is released, open the lid and add thin coconut milk and bring to boil.
- Reduce flame and add thick coconut milk.
- Switch off and add 1 tsp coconut oil and curry leaves at the top.
- Tastes best with puttu.
