Padavalanga Chemeen (Snake Gourd and Prawns) Thoran




Ingredients

  • Prawns (chemmeen) - 250 gm
  • Padavalanga (Snake Gourd) - 11/2 cup (chopped)
  • Onion - 1/4 cup (chopped)
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Green chilly - 3 (slit)
  • Curry leaves - 2 spring
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp

 To grind (to coarse)

  • Coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Pearl onion(kunjulli) - 2 nos
  • Jeera (cumin) - 1 pinch
  • Salt  - 1 pinch
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp




Method
----------
  1. Clean and de -vein the prawns .
  2. Cook snake-gourd, onion,and prawns in 1/2 cup water with salt, turmeric powder and green chilly until done and all the water has evaporated.
  3. Grind ingredients in "To grind".
  4. In a pan add oil.Splutter  mustard seeds followed by curry leaves.
  5. Add cooked snake gourd and prawns to this and saute for 2 mins.
  6. Now add grounded coconut mixture and cook for 2 more mins.
  7. Add  1 tsp coconut oil and fresh curry leaves at top
  8. Serve hot with rice.
