Poha Chivda / Aval Mixture




Other Ingredients

  • Poha /Aval - 21/2 cup
  • Peanuts - 3/4 cup
  • Roasted split Chana Dal  (Pottukadala) - 1/4 cup
  • Cashew nuts - 3 tbsp
  • Dried Red Chilli - 2
  • Fresh Curry Leaves - 4 spring
  • turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
  • Asafoetida Powder/Hing - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt  - To Taste
  • Oil -2 tbsp



Method

  1. In a pan fry the poha till it becomes nice and crisp ( will take around 3 to 4 mins) without adding oil and keep aside.
  2. In another heated pan add oil , fry the peanuts, cashew nuts, roasted chana dal. Take out and drain excess oil using a paper towel.
  3. In the same oil, splutter curry leaves followed by dried red chilli.
  4. Add turmeric powder and hing and mix well.
  5. Add fried poha, chilli powder,  salt and mix well .
  6. Add roasted  peanuts, cashew and chana dal and mix.
