Coconut Laddoo
A classic festival Indian dessert that is equally delicious and can be made in no time. It is mainly made during occasions and festive seasons. This soft , round coconut fudge ball is made with very few ingredients like desiccated coconut, milk and sugar and a little bit of ghee .
Ingredients
- Desiccated coconut - 1 cup +2tbsp for rolling
- Milk- 1/2 cup
- sugar - 1/2 cu
- Ghee - 1tsp
Method
- In a blender pulse the desiccated coconut 2 times .
- Heat a wide bottomed pan and add 1tsp ghee.
- Add desiccated coconut crumbs and gently toast i medium to low flame till a nice aroma comes and ghee is mixed well in coconut.
- Add 1/2 cup milk and keep stirring till a coarse crumby texture is formed.
- Now add 1/2 cup sugar and keep stirring .Initially sugar will melt and the mixture may appear liquidy. But keep stirring till most of the moisture has evaporated.
- Now switch off the flame and let it col for 10 minutes.
- Gently grease your palm with ghee and roll the mixture to small round balls.
- Roll the laddus on dried desiccated coconut.
- Store in air tight containers
Notes
- It is optional to pulse the desiccated coconut to fine crumbs
- Keep the flame throughout in medium to low flame stirring continuously, else the coconut will turn brown and alter the entire taste and texture of the laddoo.
