Caramel Flan

       
       

              "Caramel Flan" is also know as Caramel Custard or Caramel Pudding . It is a quick and  easy dessert made of milk, eggs and sugar and topped with caramel sauce. The sugar is caramelized and poured over a baking dish followed by the milk mixture. This is then baked in a tray filled with water until the center is just set and starts to wiggles.The pudding is then taken out chilled in a refrigerator ,sliced and served.


 Ingredients
  1. Egg 3
  2. Milk -500 ml
  3. Custard powder -1 tbsp (optional)
  4. Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
  5. Honey  1 tsp
  6. Sugar - 1/2 cup +6 tbsp
  7. Water -1 tbsp

Method
  1. Caramelize 6 tbsp sugar with 1 tbsp water  till amber color and pour in a  baking dish.
  2. Beat egg, milk,1/2 cup sugar vanilla essence ,custard powder and honey well.
  3. Strain and pour over over the caramel syrup filled baking dish.The caramel syrup will be set by now but it will turn back to syrup after baking. .
  4. In  a baking pan fill half with water.
  5. Place the pudding filler pan over it and bake for 40 mins at 350-375 degree Fahrenheit.
  6. Once done.(the center is just st and begins to wiggle) take out and allow to cool.
  7. Chill in a refrigerator  for  minimum of 3 hrs.
  8. Once chilled, at the time of serving , run a knife  around the edges and de -mould. Invert the pan so that the caramel syrup flows over the pudding.
  9. Slice and  serve cold.

Notes
  • If you don't have an oven,you can even steam the pudding in a steamer instead of baking.
  • Adjust the quantity of sugar to ones' taste.
  • If you overcook , the pudding becomes rubbery
