Naadan Beef Curry (Kerala Style)


Ingredients 
  • Beef - 500 gm  cut into cubes
  • Onion - 1 (finely sliced)
  • Tomato - 1/2  (chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 tbsp chopped
  • Garlic - 1 tbsp chopped
  • Green Chilli - 2
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Kashmiri Chilli powder - 2 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • Garam Masala Powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt - to taste
  • Coconut Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Cardamom -2
  • Whole pepper corns -5
  • Water - 1 cup

Method
  1.  In a  pan add coconut oil .Splutter  peppercorns, cardamom.
  2. Add chopped ginger , garlic and curry leaves and saute till a nice aroma comes.
  3.  Add sliced onion, green chilli and saute till they become brown.
  4. Add turmeric, kashmiri chilli , coriander, 1 tbsp water  and saute till raw smell disappears.
  5. Add sliced tomatoes and  saute well till they becomes mushy and oil starts oozing out.
  6. To this mixture, add cleaned  cut beef and saute in medium flame till the masala is coated well on the beef.
  7. Add 1 cup water and mix gently.Transfer to a pressure cooker and cook till done.(may take 4-5 whistles)
  8. When the pressure is released open the cooker and add 1 tsp coconut oil, curry leaves and sprinkle garam masala powder on top.
  9. Tastes best with puttu, porotta, appam chapathi, roti etc.
