Naadan Beef Curry (Kerala Style)
Ingredients
- Beef - 500 gm cut into cubes
- Onion - 1 (finely sliced)
- Tomato - 1/2 (chopped)
- Ginger - 1 tbsp chopped
- Garlic - 1 tbsp chopped
- Green Chilli - 2
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Kashmiri Chilli powder - 2 tbsp
- Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
- Garam Masala Powder- 1/2 tsp
- Curry Leaves
- Salt - to taste
- Coconut Oil - 3 tbsp
- Cardamom -2
- Whole pepper corns -5
- Water - 1 cup
Method
- In a pan add coconut oil .Splutter peppercorns, cardamom.
- Add chopped ginger , garlic and curry leaves and saute till a nice aroma comes.
- Add sliced onion, green chilli and saute till they become brown.
- Add turmeric, kashmiri chilli , coriander, 1 tbsp water and saute till raw smell disappears.
- Add sliced tomatoes and saute well till they becomes mushy and oil starts oozing out.
- To this mixture, add cleaned cut beef and saute in medium flame till the masala is coated well on the beef.
- Add 1 cup water and mix gently.Transfer to a pressure cooker and cook till done.(may take 4-5 whistles)
- When the pressure is released open the cooker and add 1 tsp coconut oil, curry leaves and sprinkle garam masala powder on top.
- Tastes best with puttu, porotta, appam chapathi, roti etc.
