Pazham Pori (Banana Fritters)





"Pazham Pori" is any Malayali's / all time favorite snacks.It is made from a special type banana called "Ethapazham "or "Nendrapazham".In some plces this snack is also known as "Ethakkappam".The Ethapazham is sliced and dipped in a batter made of flour sugar salt and turmeric powder and deep fried in hot oil.It is usually served as an evening snack with tea.If you haven't tasted this just give it a try and you will surely love this.



Ingredients
  1. Ethapazham (Ripe Plantain) - 2
  2. All purpose flour - 1 cup
  3. Rice flour - 2tbsp
  4. Salt  - 1/2 tsp
  5. Sugar - 1 tbsp
  6. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  7. Cardamom powder - 1 pinch(optional)
  8. Black sesame seeds- 1/2 tsp (optional)
  9. Water - as needed
  10. Oil - For deep frying


Method
  • Peel the plantain skin and cut  into 3 cylindrical pieces.
  • Take each piece and  cut it into 3 or 4 lengthwise.
  • Make  a batter with ingredients numbered  2 to 8 adding enough water so as to make a batter of smooth consistency ( slightly thicker than dosa batter consistency).Make sure there are no lumps.
  • Dip the banana slice in this batter and deep fry in hot oil turning each sides to brown and golden.
  • Drain the banana pieces and serve with a cup of hot tea.
