Kozhukatta


Ingredients
--------------------
  • Roasted Rice Flour (Appam Podi/Powder)- 1 cup
  • Boiled water - 1 1/4 cup
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Ghee - 1 tsp

For filling
----------------
  • Grated coconut - 11/2 cup
  • Melted jaggery - 1 cup
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Powder -  1/4 tsp
  • Cardamom Powder - 1/4 tsp


Method to prepare Filling

  1. Heat ghee in a pan
  2. Add cumin and cardamom powder and mix well
  3. Add grated coconut and  saute for a while
  4. Add melted jaggery and mix well till the moisture is evaporated.
  5. Allow the filling to cool


Method
------------
  1. Boil water in a pan.Add 1 tsp ghee and salt
  2. Add this water little by little to the rice powder.
  3. Mix well with hands to make a smooth dough and cover with a wet cloth
  4. Take small balls and flatten with your palm
  5. Add the filling and close the edges to make a smooth round ball.
  6. Make  the rest of the kozhukkatta in the same way
  7. Steam for 8 to 10 mins.
